Day 6 Of Student Project Blog

Finally we're into the production fhase. However we find that some scenes are wrong and our background is our of scale so we had to redo that. Meanwhile the scenes that we're ready for is the Ocean scene where the main character absorbs the meteorite and drops into the ocean. Due to lack of ability and knowledge, I wasnt able to create explosions using clay, thus I just created water splash to create the effect of it dropping in to the ocean.

Day 5 of Student Project Blog

And we're almost set into the phase of production, we just needed to make sure every scene taken is in the correct place, and the scene should be shown as in the animatics. And I've been researching on our main character and his movements since our animator kok hwee is going to do all these stuff so I wont be touching on these. Our main character is quite small and the legs are quite short, so our animator wouldnt have a hard time on doing the movements on the characters.

Day 4 Of Student Project Blog

Sorry for posting so late. Kinda forgotten that I still had this blog to be finished xd.
Bascially on day 4 we're still working on the set and our animatics. Ideas were changed in order to make the whole process smoother and due to time constraint we had to cut off some of the ideas in order to finish this project in time.
In this project, I'll be mainly modeling the clay into objects, and since I have this kind of hobby since youngy, I think i should be able to handle this. Meanwhile I also give directions to my teammates on how to do or animate the objects. I cant show any of the behind the scenes photos cause i have no idea where are the photos at and even if I knew Hilmi kept it in a hidden place :D

Day 3 of Student Project Blog

Day 3. It feels like a week already passed but it hasn't.
Today basically we were gathered as our group and deciding onto which idea should we be using.
Through discussion, our group mates thinks that my story is awkwardly interesting and it fits most of the requirements, thus my idea was chosen. Afterwards- we had to draw out the storyboard which is a very troublesome process since it wont be that detailed, but it still has to brings out the main point of each frame. Even with the animatics. However with the help of our group mates, we were fast enough to finish the storyboard, and the animatics before 4 pm, which is the time for us to pitch our idea to Ms Arina.
Through awkwardly explained story, Ms Arina doesn't seem to be convinced of my story since she says that , in movies where people were not acknowledge of their *specialty*, so in order to make the story more convincing the character must be convinced that him himself is useful to the society. And Ms Arina doesnt seem to like the idea of the hero dying as she would like a more positive outcome story. But personally I think that the hero dying suits the whole story much better, as in the reality when people are still alive, people don't appreciate more  than the moment when they die. Thus giving an impact of a touching moment that although not much people know about his contribution, but at least theres signs of appreciation around you and you yourself can be accepted. And by making the main character not dying and becoming a hero, somehow encourages people that you have to doe very huge amount of stuff to get attention and get acceptance, and minor stuff wont change anything, which brings misconception of my idea.

But in the end, to prevent trouble, I just had to scrape the ending idea, and the starting of the video, into news paper with headlines of discrimination to hint to the audience that people that are special and discriminated against. While the ending is still news paper but with headlines of , Missing hero who saved the world, while the main charcter was just hiding around the alley and live his normal live, and not drawing attention towards himself ( which successfully brings my point of not having to claim your reward even though you done a huge deed to the others )

Thats all for today. Signing out.

Day 2 Of Student Project Blog

This is day 2 of SP. Today as a start, we watched a lot of stop motion videoes as materials, even including the previous awards winner in Digi-con. And afterwards we aere allowed to do our synopsis , logline and character brief in class. So basically I had an idea of doing a response toward sthe video of Dear Future Generation, Sorry. But I had to scrape the idea as it seems to be afflicated with another video and it wont seem to be original. Thus I had to think of an another idea. I wanted to do insparational kind of videoes, or do some sort of culture change or opinion change. Thus I came up with my Unsung Sacrifice Idea. Which includes a character with special ability but not appreciated as hes different. And although he sacrificed to save the world, but less know about his sacrifice.

Im hoping that I can achieve the standards that I'm expecting. Hoping to do a up-to-standard stop motion or you can say claymation. I'm hoping that my idea can get voted by my group mates so we can start working towards that.

Day 1 Of Student Project Blog

As today is the first day of SP, we didnt do much today. We just spoke to our Year Three seniors so they could guide us into what idea that is possible, and what is not. We came out of ideas and we would prefer to do the stop motion film in clay or bring human into the video, however I dont think we cant produce claymotion videos into such good quality. Since I've done claymotion for my previous work, I have already went to watch a lot of sample videos on good claymotion videos.
In terms for smoothness and bringing out curiosity of the audience, i find Guldies' work on claymotion is awesome as he could make clay just like liquid and his transition into objects with different shape is very smooth. Meanwhile in terms of story-telling, I find PES's claymotion very good. Although he uses other elements into his video, but the storyboard and him transforming an object into another by stopmotion is very fascinating.
However due to my lack of knowledge towards claymotion, I dont think I would be able to produce such standards of claymotion, but I would like to try my best towards this direction.

For day 2, we are supposed to think of a script and vote to decide which kind of story that we are going to do.
For now, the story that Ive been trying to work towards is the hot topics that is happening currently through out the globe.
The main idea I have right now, is a respond towards a video named Dear Future Generation : Sorry by Prince Ea.
The video is basically talking about the things that humans are doing now to destroy the globe, and we are apologizing for that.
And I would like our video to be a respond to that. We're the future generation ( we're from the 2040 ) and we would like to respond to a video in 2015 ( which is the video we're responding to ). And saying how the video awaken us and how we have changed.
